Cambridge Lower Secondary provides a natural progression for children from primary education and prepares them for post-14 education programs that lead to formal qualifications. At FIS, lower secondary students expand their skills and understanding from the primary years whilst continuing to follow the Cambridge Assessment curricula for English and Maths and Science.
In addition, a wide variety of subjects are offered with courses of study specifically designed to suit the learning needs of our students at FIS.

IGCSE - Grade 10-11
In Years 10 and 11 at FIS, students immerse themselves in preparation for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). While it is compulsory for students to delve into English, Mathematics, and at least one Science subject, we extend the liberty to choose additional subjects from finance, humanities, and modern foreign languages, allowing students to tailor their education to their strengths and interests.
This freedom of subject choice empowers students to showcase their learning abilities and commence their journey towards specialization in their preferred areas of study. The culmination of this educational phase is marked by written (summative) examinations conducted in May/June at the end of Year 11, which assess their proficiency and comprehension of the IGCSE curriculum.

At FIS, our students are provided with a unique opportunity to cultivate profound subject expertise, foster conceptual comprehension, and nurture higher-order thinking skills throughout their educational journey, particularly during their Advanced-Subsidiary Level (Year 12) and Advanced Level (Year 13) studies.
Our primary aim, in partnership with the Cambridge curriculum, is to equip students with essential life skills and, more specifically, to enable them to realize their full potential in their academic pursuits, university endeavors, and future professional careers.
